Kalina Samardjieva holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Technology from the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto (FCUP) and a Master in Ecologia da Paisagem e Conservação da Natureza, also from FCUP. Since graduating in Environmental Sciences, her research interests have been focused in the area of Environmental Remediation.Currently she is an Assistant Professor at the Lusófona University of Porto where she teaches several subjects in the undergraduate courses of Environmental Engineering, Civil Protection Engineering and Civil Engineering.

Assistant Professor, in Full Time Regime, at the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies, ECEO – Department of Aeronautics and Transport, since 2009. PhD in Management (U.Évora) – Aeronautical Management Research Line, Master in Business Management U.Évora, 2010), Executive MBA in Air Transport / Civil Aviation Management (ULHT / INAC / Cranfield University, 2008). Graduated in Management (U. Nova de Lisboa, 2005). Consultant in Transport and Professional Experience in the Transport and Logistics Sector since 2005. Researcher at DREAMS – ECEO, ULHT and CEFACE – U.Évora.

Fernanda Oliveira Resende received the Electrical Engineering degree in 1996 from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering in 2000 and 2008, respectively, from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Porto, Portugal.

She concluded the Post-Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) in April of 2013, within the framework of the Post-Doctoral Grant SFRH/BPD/64022/2009, being the INESC TEC the host institution. Her research interests include smart microgrids, integration of renewable energy sources, artificial intelligence and power system dynamics and control.

She is an Associate Professor at University Lusófona of Porto, Porto, Portugal, since 2009, Adjunct Professor at the Superior School of Technology and Management of Águeda, Aveiro University, Águeda, Portugal, since 2016 and a Senior Researcher of the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering of Porto (INESC Porto) since 2004. Also, she is a Director of course of Electrical Engineering of Power Systems at University Lusófona of Porto, since 2012. She joined the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (Superior School of Technology and Management), Bragança, Portugal, between 1998 and 2009.
