Cândida Leonor Pinto holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering, with a Master Degree. in Environmental Management and Policies and a Bachelor in Environmental Engineering from the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Holds a Short Ph.D. in Soil and Plant Analysis and Data Handling by the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands.

Began her professional career in research at the University of Aveiro, developing over 5 years several projects in waste management. She was a researcher at Swansea University in the UK, a Waste Specialist at EDV Energia – Energy Agency between the Douro and Vouga, a lecture on Environmental Technologies, Waste Management Systems and Waste Treatment Technologies at the Portuguese Catholic University. Has a vast experience in training with more than 600 hours in several thematic including waste management, waste water treatments, climate change and circular economy.

She is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering of ULHT and a Senior Consultant and Auditor in several Portuguese and International companies.

She is also a Researcher at Research Centre DREAMS (Interdisciplinary Development and Research on Environment, Applied Management and Aeronautics).

PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEUP, 1991), academic, professor and researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (since 1981) and at the Lusófona University of Porto (since 1993). His scientific interests and work are centered on Energy Systems, Electric Machines and on all issues of Civil Protection and Safety.

Throughout his career he has assumed multiple roles in the academic management of the institutions in which he collaborates, especially those of faculty director, course director and scientific advisor. Anticipating the needs of one new sector of activity in Portugal, he has designed and developed pioneering courses directed to Portuguese Civil Protection, namely the Degree in Civil Protection Engineering and the Civil Protection Master Degree, approved by the Portuguese agency A3ES in 2010 and 2017, which were the first courses in the University level in Portugal.

For more than 15 years, he is promoting regular initiatives on dissemination of knowledge and technical and scientific reflection on Civil Protection and Security issues from Lusófona University of Porto, in partnership with municipalities and several institutions and personalities representative of the sector.

In 2013 he founded at Lusófona University of Porto and is the coordinator of the Civil Protection and Risk Analysis Group Portugal (RAGroup Portugal), a group of experts for studies, research and other technical and scientific services to community in the areas of Environment, Spatial Planning, Evaluation and Risk Management and all the themes of Civil Protection.

Born April 25, 1957, is married, lives in Gondomar and has two children.

António Pedro Fernandes Costa holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico. In addition, he has attended various engineering courses and internships at ALENIA, Italy, Aerospatiale, France, Cranfield University, England and NASA, USA. From the duties already performed, the following should be highlighted: Technical officer at OGMA for maintenance, repair and modification of US Navy aircraft; Technical Director of Aerocondor Transportes Aéreos, Lda; Head of Design and Compliance Verification Engineer from Sofinare, Lda; Guest Researcher at IDMEC; Researcher on European projects of the 4th, 5th and 7th Framework Programs (3AS, ARTIMA, PERSEUS and NOVMOR); Researcher at FCT, Applied Vehicle Technology, NATO Research and Technology Organization, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and ERDF projects under the National Strategic Reference Framework; National Representative on the Applied Vehicle Technology panel of NATO Research and Technology Organization; Technical manager responsible to the Ministry of National Defense for projects of defense interest; Air Force Representative to the Ministry of National Defense for R&D matters; Evaluator invited by the Innovation Agency for research and development projects presented by the national aviation industry; Lecturer at the Air Force Academy, Higher Institute of Education and Science and Higher Institute of Engineering of Lisbon; Director of the Air Force Academy Research Center; Coordinator, Engineering Department, Air Force Academy; Member of the Central Air Force Accident Investigation Commission; Guest lecturer and responsible for the Aerodynamics and Oil-Hydraulics Laboratory of the Thermofluids and Energy Section of the Lisbon Superior Institute of Engineering; Professor at the Faculty of Aeronautical Sciences of the Lusófona University of Porto. He is currently Professor of the Department of Aeronautics and Transport of the School of Economic Sciences and Organizations of the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies. He has published 6 articles in specialized magazines and 28 papers on event minutes. It has 4 processes or techniques and 25 other technical production items. Received 7 awards and honors.
