Developing research activity in the field of Ergonomics or Human Factors, particularly focusing on human-machine interaction. This is a research domain requiring multidisciplinary teams, where cooperation experience is indispensable. The study of human activity in Ergonomics/Human Factors approach has to be context-related, aiming at explaining human behavior and performance in particular real situations. Therefore, the research object is centered on human-technology interaction, stressing the importance of human and contextual factors in the interaction optimization. Therefore, the research is conducted in the domain of Human-Technology Interaction and Cooperation applied to the context of Transports.
Born in Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal) in 1974. He is graduated in Environmental Engineering (University of Azores, 2000), holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering – Coastal Environments (University of Porto, 2003) and a PhD in Engineering Sciences – coastal management (University of Porto, 2008). He concluded a Post-doc in Mining and Civil Engineering (University of Porto, 2011).
From 1999 to 2008 he worked as researcher in the Hydraulics and Water Resources Institute from the University of Porto, collaborating as Geographic Information Systems expert in several national and international projects and studies related to coastal planning, coastal erosion and defense, coastal morphodynamics and water resources management. He was Civil Engineering course Director and lecturer at University Lusófona of Porto between 2009 and 2012. Presently he is Associate Professor and Vice Rector at University Lusófona of Porto. Since june 2018 is the DREAMS (DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH IN ENVIRONMENT, APPLIED MANAGEMENT AND SPACE) Principal Investigator.
He is Simbiente’s technical consultant since 2008, working in projects regarding to coastal and transitional water bodies management, coastal risks assessment and sea resources valorization. He also works in the same expertise fields in Simbiente Azores since 2009.
